April 20th, 2008 - Derek Baze, Kansas City, KS - Nemaha Valley Bassmasters
Club tournament with eight anglers caught at least 25 bass over 15" and a lot under 15". Very few really good ones were caught - biggest one was 4 lbs. 1 oz. We caught 'em off points, other structure, on the banks, and in the trees - pretty much everywhere. Water temperature was between 52º and 55º. Conservation officer stopped by and shared a little more info - someone caught a really nice smallmouth on Saturday, the catfish are biting about normal, and the crappie are extremely slow right now.

July 17th, 2008 - Chris Ulane, Omaha, NE - (non-club member)
Fished my favorite farm pond (near Honey Creek, IA) Sunday July 6 and again Tuesday July 15. Fished in the evening on the 6th, lots of clouds, warm, a sprinkle of rain and a great topwater bite. Caught a 4-3 and a 4-12 on a baby torpedo (bass color), and a 5-5 on a bone colored Zara Spook. Lots of 1-2 pound fish on these baits also. Good bite on black/blue buzz bait as the light faded. Tuesday fished the morning and early afternoon- hot, sunny and calm. Did get a few bass to 2 pounds on Senkos (any dark color) and on some finesse worms. A few crappie on small cranks also. Lake has a lot of muck and scum- fish seemed to be near the edges of the salad. Rolled a few on a white Spro frog, but only 1 hookup.
June 2nd, 2008 - Bryan Adams, Omaha, NE - (non-club member)
My work took me out to Valentine from Omaha on Monday and I got a chance to fish the city pond in Valentine and it is a gem.  I was only there for an hour and a half but I caught five bass and a handful of crappie and bluegill as well as a seven pound channel cat.  All fish were caught on either a white spinnerbait or Texas rigged worm.  This pond is only 20-30 acres but it has plenty of fish.
April 23rd, 2008 - Chris Ulane, Omaha, NE - (non-club member)
Fished a private pond in Iowa between Crescent and Honey Creek today. Between myself and another angler in the boat, we caught 22 bass in 5 hours. The pond is deep and narrow with a lot of timber, and the bass were close to the bank and eagerly took red/white spinnerbaits with double willow (silver) blades. Also caught a few on a shad colored spinner. Water temp was mid 50's, with a good breeze, and lots of clouds. Most fish were 14-18 inches, but did get 2 over 21 and close to 5 lbs. Fished this same pond Tuesday April 29, much slower bite. Windy and sunny with same water temps. Did get a few bites on 3/8 ounce black/blue football jig with paca sr. chunk in summer craw color. No takers on spinnerbait or Sexy Shad #1 crank. Boated only 1 fish in 2 hours - a 4-8 largemouth on the jig.

May 30th, 2008 - Derek Baze, Kansas City, KS - Nemaha Valley Bassmasters
We had some really good action with the bass on Truman this past week.  We never really had a good pattern down, catching them on many different colored plastics, crankbaits, jigs and just about everything else we were throwing at them.  We caught most of them off of the secondary points and about halfway back in the main lake coves, mostly near laydowns and larger brush piles. Very few dinks with most of the bass we caught measuring between 15 and 18 inches.
May 6th, 2008 - Jason, Warsaw, MO - (non-club member)
Crappie are getting ready for spawn so most of the fish we caught were in 12 foot of water or less. The lake is 8 or 9 feet high, so the flooded grass is good with roadrunners in the mouths of the pockets near the channels. Also working well are minnows 10 feet down near the bottom, off secondary points. We had a good amount of 12"+ crappie - good luck!
